Nadine Lewis
Headteacher
Summerside Primary Academy

“At Summerside we have been working with Non Stop Action for 7 years…

The coaches are highly trained and have great depth of subject knowledge. They are enthusiastic, professional, flexible and reliable. Their lessons are carefully planned to ensure coverage of the PE curriculum with a progression in skills, explicit teaching of vocabulary and a high level of activity to keep our children healthy. The children value their PE lessons highly and the NSA coaches have built strong relationships and become a respected part of our staff family. The coaches have introduced their own recognition and rewards scheme, which motivates our children, and have also taken our behaviour system and strategies on board so that the children have a consistent experience.

The NSA coaches run after-school PE clubs which we subsidise with our PE Grant – places are always in demand and we have a permanent waiting list! Children enjoy the clubs and their parents are very grateful. The coaches thoroughly prepare a group of our children to go to the Dance Festival in Barnet and put on a brilliant performance each year. Non Stop Action have provided CPD for our staff by leading practical staff meetings and teaching active, structured lessons for some year groups with the teachers present, so the teachers can observe and build their confidence. It has been so helpful to have support from NSA and their coaches throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. They supported us with childcare, and sports lessons for children in school so they stayed active. We have also appreciated the contact and flexibility from the leadership team at Non Stop Action at this time and throughout our time working with NSA.

Non Stop Action are now an integral part of life at Summerside and highly valued by our whole community.

“Non Stop Action Action have been providing PE coaching and CPD for us for 14 years…

Non-stop action have been providing PE coaching and CPD for us at Sacred Heart for over 14 years. They provide well planned lessons which closely follow the National Curriculum and are delivered by enthusiastic and engaging staff. Their coaches are well trained and highly skilled. They are always professional in their interactions with both staff and pupils.

Our pupils love their PE lessons and look forward to them every week. They have also provided CPD for gymnastics and dance for our own teachers across a number of years – this expert training has been invaluable in raising staff knowledge and confidence in teaching these strands.

“The Non-Stop Action Team have transformed the way in which PE is delivered in our school…

With their organisation and commitment to providing the very best for the children in the schools they work in, the staff have become inspirational role models for our children – teaching them PE skills and passing on positive attitudes towards healthy living and exercise.

Our pupils always look forward to their Non Stop Action PE sessions and, for many, it has become the highlight of their week. The school staff have enjoyed learning from the PE specialists and now feel far more confident when teaching PE themselves. We wouldn’t be without the Non-Stop Action Team now and are delighted to be one of the many schools that benefit from their skills and expertise.

Xangi Kerr
PE Coordinator
Stag Lane Primary School

“Putting your trust in a new sports provider for your school can be a daunting prospect…

Change can be challenging but the staff and coaches at Non Stop action have made the changeover a proverbial “doddle”. The management team have been professional, flexible and accommodating to our schools needs and are always available and on hand to help with any questions or queries. NSA provide high quality teaching and learning for pupils, structured lesson planning and assessment as well as up to date training and monitoring of their staff and coaches.

They have a universal behaviour management and rewards system across all coaches and schools in order to maintain consistent high expectations and standards of behaviour for learning in class. Coaches are highly skilled and resourced and professional in their manner with both children and staff.

Feedback from all our staff and pupils has been more than complimentary since making the switch and I much confess, we couldn’t be happier we did!

The engagement of children in Sport and PE is essential to making children physically literate for life.

The PE & Sports premium shows us that this area is a clear priority for the government.

For the academic year, schools will continue to receive the doubled funding, with the following aims:

  • To increase the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
  • To raise the profile of PE and sport across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement
  • To increase confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  • To broaden the experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupil
  • To increased participation in competitive sport.

For more guidance on how to spend your PE & Sports Premium, see the government website.

We offer a range of different services and products that help schools to meet these requirements, including:

  • Teacher CPD
  • Extra-curricular clubs

Clubs

physical education

We deliver breakfast, lunch and afterschool clubs, increasing opportunities within schools, getting children active in safe and familiar surroundings.

We offer a wide range of age-specific clubs in a range of sports, dance and gymnastics. We provide activities and games that are structured, safe, stimulating and fun.

Schools can either retain all aspects of the administration of the club, including registers and collecting payments, as appropriate. Alternatively, you can hand over all the administration to us. We will collect payment and registration details through our purpose-built online system, dealing directly with parents.

Whichever, the school chooses, they have the peace of mind of knowing that a well-qualified teacher will deliver a high-quality session to build a club that minimises cost and maximises participation. Our clubs can even provide an income for the school.

Outdoor Education

physical education

As part of the PE National Curriculum for KS2, schools are required to offer children opportunities to ‘take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges, both individually and within a team’.

We can support schools to provide these opportunities either on or off site, for a few hours or across a number of days. For off-site or residential events, we work in partnership with Gilwell Park which is close to Epping Forest but only a short drive away. The children always thoroughly enjoy these days and will create some of their best school memories there, while developing resilience and team building skills along the way. Some of our favourite activities include:

  • Archery
  • Crate stacking
  • The 3G swing
  • Orienteering
  • Raft building

We can work with schools to build a bespoke package that suits the educational aims of their trip, whilst catering for the needs of all pupils.
